Aarhus Rådhus,
by Arne Jacobsen
You marry inside a landmark. Aarhus Rådhus was designed by Arne Jacobsen and Erik Møller and inaugurated in 1941, one of the buildings that defined Danish modernism. The ceremony takes place in the vielsessal, and the marble, the light and the quiet detail become part of your photographs.
The ceremony
A short civil ceremony in the vielsessal, usually about ten minutes, held on weekdays and Saturdays. I photograph it as it happens, then we step out into the building and the city.
Travel is fixed
I drive up from Aabenraa, about an hour and a half away. Travel is a fixed €149, the same for every couple, charged with the reservation fee and nothing added on the day.
The paperwork
Handled before your day through Familieretshuset, which reviews the papers for couples marrying from abroad. On weekdays the town hall provides your two witnesses; on Saturdays you bring your own. My guide to a civil wedding in Denmark covers it.
Book me directly
No agency in between. You book me directly, every price is open on this page, and English is the working language from the first message.
Your portraits,
across Aarhus
After the ceremony we head out into the city. Aarhus gives you cobbled old streets, a modern harbourfront and open coast within a short drive, so your portraits carry more than one side of the place.

The Latin Quarter
The cobbled streets and colourful facades of the Latin Quarter sit a few minutes from the Rådhus, the oldest and most characterful part of the city.

Marselisborg forest and beach
South of the centre, Marselisborg’s woodland and the bay open up, green and quiet when you want portraits away from the streets.

The harbour and Dokk1
The harbourfront around Dokk1 brings clean modern lines and open water, a contrast to the old town and to the Rådhus itself.

Couples say it
better than I can
We had such a wonderful experience. Benjamin made us feel so comfortable and confident in front of the camera. Incredibly friendly, detail-oriented, and he really takes the time to make sure everything feels right.
From planning to the shoot to post-processing, everything was so easy and top-quality. Benjamin guided us through every pose, made us feel relaxed and natural. The photos were beautifully edited, polished but still so real.
Benjamin was professional, attentive, and incredibly talented. He captured both the big moments and the quiet in-between ones that truly tell the story of the day. The photos came out beautifully. Natural, timeless, and full of emotion.

Questions about a wedding
in Aarhus
Civil weddings in Aarhus are held at Aarhus Rådhus, Arne Jacobsen’s landmark town hall from 1941, in the vielsessal. The municipality also offers a few special outdoor dates each year, but the Rådhus is the standard setting.
Short, usually about ten minutes at Aarhus Rådhus. It moves quickly, so I stay close through all of it.
Sometimes. Aarhus occasionally offers ceremonies at special locations such as the garden at Borgmestergården or Den Gamle By, on set dates. For most couples the ceremony is at the Rådhus, and we head outdoors afterwards for portraits.
Two witnesses are required. On weekdays the town hall provides them for you. On Saturdays you bring your own two witnesses, and I can stand in as one if you need me to.
A fixed €149 on top of any package, the same for every couple. It is based on the round-trip distance at the official Danish mileage rate. It is charged upfront together with the €49 reservation fee, so €198 secures your date, and that amount is non-refundable.
No. Agencies handle paperwork and planning for couples who want that, and they do it well. But you do not need one to book a photographer. You can book me directly, and my prices are open on this page.
The Latin Quarter’s cobbled streets are a few minutes from the Rådhus, and Marselisborg’s parkland and coast are a short drive south. We plan the route around your day and the light.
