Ærøskøbing's old town,
and the coast beyond
Ærøskøbing is small enough to walk end to end, and almost every corner of it photographs beautifully. These are the three places I take couples to, with the open coast never more than a few minutes away.
Ærøskøbing old town
The painted doors and cobbled lanes of Ærøskøbing's old town are a two minute walk from the ceremony, and they carry the day's story into every portrait.
The harbour
The harbour sits right by the old town, wooden boats and open water for portraits with room to breathe.
The beach huts at Vesterstrand
The painted beach huts at Vesterstrand are a short drive from the town hall, and they photograph like nowhere else in Denmark.

Getting married on Ærø
Thousands of couples have married on Ærø since 2008. The paperwork is simple, and the whole island feels made for a wedding day. Here is how it works.
The ceremony
Ærøskøbing town hall, or one of the island's outdoor spots. The municipality's wedding team offers more than 200 dates a year, and confirms yours by email once your documents are approved.
Getting there
I take the ferry from Fynshav, about an hour across calm water. Couples coming through Funen sail from Svendborg instead. Book your crossing ahead, especially in summer.
The paperwork
Familieretshuset approves your documents first, and you name Ærø as the place you want to marry when you apply. Questions about the ceremony itself go to the municipality's wedding team. My guide to a civil wedding in Denmark covers the whole process.
No agency needed
Many Ærø weddings are sold as agency packages. You do not need one to have a photographer there. You can book me directly, and every price is open on this page.

Travel to Ærø is a fixed €350, covering the ferry and my full day on the island, and the prices below include it. It is charged together with the €49 reservation fee when you book, so €399 secures your date. This part is non-refundable.

Questions about a wedding
on Ærø
By ferry. From Jutland and Germany the route is Fynshav to Søby, about an hour, and I sail that one with you. From Funen it is Svendborg to Ærøskøbing. Book your crossing ahead, especially for summer dates.
Yes. Most couples marry at the town hall, but you can also marry outside it, at one of the island's beaches or old streets. It is one of the reasons couples choose Ærø over a mainland town hall.
Ask the municipality's wedding team when you book, they will tell you what applies to your date. I can also stand in as one of your witnesses if needed.
