What to expect at
Storegade 30
The ceremony room is on the first floor of the listed 1828 building at Storegade 30. The room is calm and formal with natural light and real warmth. I arrive before you, know how the space works, and stay positioned throughout so nothing is missed.
Most civil ceremonies last around 20 minutes. They are focused, personal, and emotionally direct. You can bring up to 50 guests and witnesses are provided by the municipality if needed.
A suggested timeline
Arrive 20 minutes early
Give yourself time to park, breathe, and settle before the ceremony begins. The entrance on Storegade is easy to find.
The ceremony: ~20 minutes
The registrar leads a short, warm ceremony. You confirm your consent, sign the documents, and receive your marriage certificate immediately after.
Entrance portraits: 5 to 10 minutes
The steps and surroundings of Storegade 30 make for strong early portraits. Old stone, good light, and the historic character of the building.
Portrait session: 30 to 90 minutes
The fjord, the castle grounds, and the old town are all within minutes depending on your package.
The best portrait spots
near Aabenraa
All three locations below are within a short drive of Storegade 30 and give the day completely different visual atmospheres.
Aabenraa Fjord and waterfront
Open water, soft reflections, and wide sky. The fjord waterfront has a calm, unhurried quality and works in any season. A short drive from the town hall and the atmosphere shifts completely.
Brundlund Castle grounds
The castle is a few minutes from the town hall. The grounds have old stone, mature trees, and a quiet dignity that photographs well at any time of day. One of the strongest portrait settings in the region.
Old town streets near Storegade
The area immediately around the town hall has cobblestones, half-timbered buildings, and warm light. A natural extension of the ceremony location and strong for portraits at any time of year.
Parking near Storegade 30
All parking in Aabenraa is free but most spots have time limits. A parking disc is required. Do not park in front of the town hall (parking prohibited) and avoid Rådhuspladsen behind the building (30-minute limit). The options below are the best choices for a wedding day.
Sankt Nicolai Gades Car Park
The closest and most convenient option to the old town hall. Free parking with a parking disc. A short walk from Storegade 30. Best option for the ceremony itself.
